The I-PACE comes in one ‘EV400’ package with a 90kWh battery and a 395bhp all-wheel drive powertrain. There are five standard trim levels – ‘S’, ‘SE’, HSE’, ‘Black’ and ‘HSE Black’. Prices start at around £65,000 and range up to around £77,000.

Equipment levels are as generous as you would expect for the money being asked. Even the entry-level ‘S’ variant comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, full-LED headlights, sports seats, a Meridian sound system, a ‘Navigation Pro’ infotainment set-up, a rear parking camera, cruise control and heated door mirrors.

Jaguar may call it an SUV, but the I-Pace sits little higher than a conventional hatchback, which pays dividends for efficiency; the I-Pace should go further on a charge than its main rivals.

The I-Pace is powered by a 90kWh battery, which comes with an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty and drives two electric motors to give four-wheel drive. The system develops 396bhp and 696Nm of torque, which is enough for 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds and a range of up to 292 miles of ‘real world driving’.
