Volvo is set to unveil its first ever fully electric premium MPV, the EM90, on November 12, 2023. The new vehicle is designed to be a “Scandinavian living room on the move,” with a spacious and comfortable interior that is perfect for families. The EM90 will be initially launched in China, where large MPVs are still popular. However, Volvo has hinted that the vehicle could be brought to other markets in the future.

The upcoming Volvo electric SUV is expected to share some of its technology with the new EX90 electric SUV. This means that it could have a twin-motor, 402-horsepower powertrain and a 111-kWh battery pack, which could provide a range of up to 300 miles. Fast charging should also be available, as the EX90 can go from 10% to 80% charge in about half an hour.

The only teaser image of the new Volvo suggests that it will be a luxury product. The panoramic glass roof reveals two individual seats in the middle row, rather than a bench seat that can accommodate more passengers. The sliding rear door handles, which are located next to the front door handles, suggest that the EM90 will have traditional MPV-style sliding doors for easy access.

Pricing for the EM90 has not yet been announced, but it is expected if it did come to the UK it would start at around £100,000.

The EM90 is a significant new vehicle for Volvo, as it marks the company’s entry into the growing electric MPV market. The vehicle is well-positioned to compete with other luxury electric MPVs, such as the Mercedes-Benz EQB and the BMW iX3.

The EM90 is also a sign of Volvo’s commitment to electrification. The company has pledged to become an all-electric brand by 2030, and the EM90 is one of a number of new electric vehicles that Volvo plans to launch in the coming years.
